New Online Class Starting in January

Exciting news! I will be starting a new mixed ability online class on Thursday mornings from 13th January onwards. The class will be 10am to 11.15am and will be via zoom. You just need a space to practice and a mat! New students will also be asked to complete a short confidential health questionnaire.

If you’d like to find out more, or to sign up, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Namaste,

Classes Start 13th September

It’s almost the Autumn and it’s brilliant that our live classes will resume the week beginning 13th September! Please check out my class timetable under Classes.

As the government restrictions have now been lifted we will not have to socially distance, but I’m aware we want to remain safe and comfortable when we practice together. With this in mind, we will aim to keep some space between everyone’s mat as much as possible, and we won’t be sharing yoga equipment.  If you can also bring your own water bottle that would be brilliant. If you have any queries please email me or call me on 07766 562025.

Looking forward to seeing you on the mat.

Namaste,

Vivien

Wishing you a safe and happy Summer time.

Happy International Yoga Day 2021

It is International Yoga Day on 21st June, and also the Summer Solstice. A hopeful time when we can welcome the light and take time to reflect on how yoga and meditation can help us feel healthier and happier. Each time you come to your mat you allow your mind and body to become whole again, you find greater harmony and a renewed sense of the truth of your life.

This year, when we have all struggled to manage in such difficult, stressful times, yoga can play such an important role in our lives. It’s accessibility and simplicity are truly a gift, you just need to get on your mat, if only for a few minutes, to feel better.

Wishing you a happy International Yoga Day, and a joyful Solstice.

Spring 2021

As we move into the Spring and the world reawakens around us, it is helpful to take some time to reassess what you would like to build on this Spring, and what you would like to let go off.

Reflection and renewal are an ongoing part of our yoga journey. As part of looking after ourselves we need to recognise what holds us back, and what nourishes us, what we no longer need and what fulfills us. Then you too can embrace the Spring and continue to grow.

A Purification

At the start of spring I open a trench
in the ground. I put into it
the winter’s accumulation of paper,
pages I do not want to read
again, useless words, fragments,
errors. And I put into it
the contents of the outhouse:
light of the sun, growth of the ground,
finished with one of their journeys.
To the sky, to the wind, then,
and to the faithful trees, I confess
my sins: that I have not been happy
enough, considering my good luck;
have listened to too much noise;
have been inattentive to wonders;
have lusted after praise.
And then upon the gathered refuse
of mind and body, I close the trench,
folding shut again the dark,
the deathless earth. Beneath that seal
the old escapes into the new.

Wishing you a happy Spring!

In the Time of Pandemic

And the people stayed home.
And read books and listened, and rested and exercised,
and made art and played games,
and learned new ways of being and were still.
And listened more deeply.
Some meditated, some prayed, some danced.
Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently.

And the people healed.
And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless and heartless ways the earth began to heal.

And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again,
they grieved their losses, and made new choices,
and dreamed new images,
and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully,
as they had been healed

Autumn Yoga

Welcome to the season of Autumn. A time of shifting patterns all around us as we move away from the Summer and the light starts to draw in. Autumn is a great time to take stock, to reassess how we feel and begin anew. Yoga helps us tune in to the changing patterns we experience within ourselves, it helps us connect with who we really are and start to take care of ourselves a little more. If you haven’t tried yoga before it’s a good time to start exploring – you never know what you might discover!

Namaste.
